Come Join Us on MAX!

MAX Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) serves major activity and employment centers throughout our community including Midtown, CSU and Downtown. MAX links with other Transfort bus routes, Park-n-Rides, the City's bicycle/pedestrian trail system, and other local and regional transit routes to provide seamless service for passengers. MAX follows a dedicated transit-only guideway (its own road) and mixed-traffic streets that run parallel to the BNSF Railway between the South Transit Center (south of Harmony Road) and Downtown. It is served by 12 stations and stops.

How to Ride MAX
1. Determine your fare. Purchase your MAX ticket before boarding at a station ticket machine – cash and credit cards are accepted. No need to show your ticket or pass to the bus driver. All Transfort passes are accepted on MAX. 2. Watch for a bus arrival time - Bus arrival information is displayed on screens and announcements at the stations. 3. Enter one of three doors - wheelchairs to the front, bicycles to the rear.
4. Wheelchairs - Enter through the front door. Choose either forward or rearward facing. MAX can accommodate two passengers with wheelchairs.
5. Bicycles - Enter through the rear door. MAX can accommodate up to four bicycles. If no room is available on the bus, park your bicycle in a rack or wait for the next bus.
6. Transit Service Officers will ask for your ticket or Transfort pass once on board.

Getting to the Stations
• Plan your bus trip with Google Transit
• Find a station where you want to board MAX
• Check real-time bus information
• Take a bus, ride a bike, walk or drive to a MAX station
• By bus: Many Transfort routes connect to MAX. Check the system map and locate a bus stop near you.
• By bike: Board your bike on a bus, or park at a bike rack at the stations. Loaner bikes are available at the Downtown Transit Center.
• By car: Park in a park-n-ride lot at the following stations: Downtown Transit Center, Drake Station, Troutman Parkway, Swallow Station, or the South Transit Center. Look for MAX parking signs along the corridor, or refer to this parking map.

More Important Notes
- Keep off the guideway - only buses and authorized vehicles are allowed on the guideway, no cars, pedestrians or bicycles.
- Stations and transit centers are smoke-free.
- Walk your bike or skateboard at the station platforms.

View Gold Route Schedule
This service is brought to you by Association of Students of Colorado State University (ASCSU) and the City of Fort Collins.

Did You Know?
GOLD passengers who park in the downtown parking garages overnight are eligible for a low cost $5/night fixed parking fee. Ask for a parking voucher from the GOLD bus operator. Bus operators will only provide these if requested. Vouchers are valid in the Old Town and Civic Center Parking Garages.

Have your bike downtown after hours? The GOLD route has bike racks. Instead of biking while intoxicated, ride the bus.

Dial-A-Ride Paratransit

Dial-A-Ride is a door-to-door paratransit service for individuals who, because of a disability, are prevented from using Transfort's fixed route system. Dial-A-Ride service meets minimum service requirements of the American’s with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA).

For Dial-A-Ride reservations and eligibility questions, please call 970.224.6066. Download the complete Dial-A-Ride User's Guide

Who is eligible?
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) defines someone as disabled for the purposes of transportation as: A person with a disability, whose disability prevents them from using a fixed route bus service. Individuals that fit this definition are eligible for paratransit service.

In order to better serve Dial-A-Ride clients, eligibility will be categorized into three different groups:

  • Unconditional - A person’s disability prevents them from using the fixed route system at any time
  • Conditional - A person’s disability prevents them from using the fixed route system part of the time. An example would be a person sensitive to temperature extremes. Consideration will be given to the following day’s weather in determining a trip’s eligibility
  • Temporary - A person’s disability prevents them from using the fixed route system for a set period of time.

Service Area
All trips must remain within the service area, which is defined as ¾ mile from any fixed bus route. See map. Paratransit service will not be scheduled beyond the area shown in blue on the map. Simply living beyond ¾ of a buffer does not qualify for Dial-A-Ride. Final determination of a trip’s origin and destination falls within the discretion of Dial-A-Ride.

Hours of Service
6 a.m. – 11 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 6 a.m. – 2:30 a.m. Fri-Sat, except for published holidays.
Contact Dial-A-Ride for information on complementary paratransit service for MAX and Gold routes.

Fares
$2.50 per one-way trip.

Reservations and Pickups
Make a reservation up to 14 days in advance of your trip. Call 970.224.6066 to schedule your trip. When your trip day arrives, please be ready at least 15 minutes before your pickup time, and be prepared to wait up to 15 minutes after your pickup time, and watch for the driver. Drivers will wait for five minutes for each rider, but then must continue on the route. If your driver has not arrived within 15 minutes of your pickup time, please call 970.224.6066.

Cancellations
Call 970.224.6066 to cancel your reservation. Cancellations are accepted up to one hour prior to scheduled pick up time. If it is cancelled within one hour of pick up time, a “no show” will be charged. Otherwise, there are no penalties.

Suspension Policy
There is a Dial-A-Ride suspension policy for excessive violations of the one hour notice cancellation requirement. For details on this suspension policy, please refer to the Dial-A-Ride User's Guide. All of the following are considered cancellation violations:

  • "Late Cancel": Passenger fails to give cancellation notice at least one hour prior to scheduled pick-up time.
  • "No-Show": Passenger is not at the designated pick-up location and misses a scheduled trip.
  • "Cancel at the Door": Passenger refuses his/her trip when the driver arrives for pick-up.

If a passenger incurs three violations (in any combination), service may be suspended.

NOTE: This policy does not apply to passengers who have missed a return trip due to a medical delay (when passenger is not ready due to a doctor's appointment running late).

Application and registration information
All potential passengers must apply for Dial-A-Ride service. Call 970.224.6066 for an application. Once completed, mail your application to:
Transfort

PassFort

PassFort is an employer-based bus pass program that enables employers to purchase "bulk rate" annual Transfort bus passes. This program is available to all Fort Collins businesses regardless of the size of company.

For businesses over 25 employees, a business must purchase at least 25 passes. For businesses less than 25 employees, a business must purchase a pass for every employee.

Participating businesses receive a bulk rate of $50 per pass. That's a 68% savings compared to a regular annual pass ($154).
Vouchers are provided by the business to employees for their purchase of an annual pass at a transit center.

PassFort passes may be used on any Transfort bus, any time, any day. This includes MAX and FLEX, a regional bus system.

Additional PassFort Services
• Enrollment through Downtown Business Association (DBA) or Chamber of Commerce: Businesses that are members of the DBA or Chamber of Commerce can allow their employees to purchase PassFort passes directly through the DBA or Chamber.
• Pass Usage Reports: Businesses are provided with reports highlighting the frequency of employee pass usage. This service allows employers to see the value employees receive from the pass, and view carbon dioxide (CO2) and vehicle miles traveled (VMT) savings.
